I'll make a note of this for the next update. For efficiency, it really needs a slight change to the category data structure (currently categories already 'know' their parents but not their children). I imaginethis should be controlled by a setting (flag new entries up the tree/flag new entries in parent only).

You're right - I changed the code quite some time ago to carry the template as a parameter in the code that builds the linkbits, but never got round to doing the same thing for catbits. Easiest will be to make this change in the next release. Otherwise, you will have to copy the get_catsubbit and get_catlistbit code over into a module/plugin, and modify the choice of templates.

No guarantees of when 2.2.7 will appear - there are some other things that I need to do first.
