I agree, what I posted is nothing like the video. But isn't the forum jump menu in the navbar just a glorified template of the the hack I posted?

Well, it can be if you manually add everything but a dynamic solution would be a much better alternative IMO. That way anytime a forum is added or removed there wouldn't be a template edit.
