He's doing it (on just one of his sites) to test some of his own theories on SEO. Those theories require a range of SEO configurability which vBSEO allows for far beyond Zoints SEO or any other for that matter.

Plus I'm sure he's learning about all it's inner workings so he can make Zoints SEO better for free
