I really don't think it will be your vBulletin unless you have a medium to large sized forum as these generally don't run too well on shared hosting.
Personally I've been using shared hosting for over three years (changed providers in summer after a big problem with my original host but still to another shared hosting account with another provider) and have around 60,000 posts with a low average users online count.
However, I have heard a lot of bad reports about godaddy hosting, so it might be worth looking into another provider.
Out of curiosity, what are your current site stats (from the forumhome page) and average users online?
Also, if you are on linux hosting then on your admincp index page you will have 3 server load averages figures. They will look something like 3.39 4.18 4.27 If you could also post them it would be appreciated. If you cannot find them (they are next to the number of users online) then you are probably on windows hosting so they won't show up.
