I have searched high and low for a hack that does what i want but cannot find one anywhere.

I believe this is a simple hack, and have already got it started.

What i have is a template, a couple of plugins and a product.

Ive included the product here as it contains the template, and plugins, but it has no functionality other than showing up whereever you put $closeoptions.

Basically this hack should allow the user who starts a thread, to havbe it auto close after X hours/days/weeks/months set by the thread starter.

Is anyone willing to take this product and give it some functionality?

This needs to be able to be turned on or off per forum, and if this is enabled in a forum then the options that show by default to close a thread after it is posted should not show.
This form would replace that one where ever this is enabled.

Also i would like to add that i will be using this as a learning tool as well, so i can learn how to add new fields to NEWTHREAD and display those results on SHOWTHREAD.

Like when the user enters a time for the thread to close, then when the thread is being viewed there should be a little blurb somewhere saying "This thread will auto-close in X(hours/days/weeks/months)
