I have 8 years worth of E-MAIL messages from a mailing list that I want to import into a vBulletin forum.

Initially this will serve as my mailing list archive. Later I will set up e-mail gateways so users can either continue as mailing list members or use the forums, as they choose. (I realise that will take some effort!)

The messages are in mailbox format under my Mozilla Thunderbird installation on the same machine that's hosting my testbed forum. How do I get them into my vBulletin database with a reasonable approximation of threading and user names?

I've done a lot of searches here and at .com. Either I've missed something or the ground is really sparse on this issue.
