my sitemap report generator tells me that my sitemap files are in my root (ie.
http://www.mysite.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz), yet they are not there.
All my sitemap files were generated in "vbroot/vbseo_sitemap/data/" which is where we are instructed to give write access (which I did). They exist there but my report generator links to them as though they are in vbroot/ (causing 404 error in my case).
Does the vbroot also need write access for these files to be placed there? All I did was follow instructions to the T.
I'm most concerned if they are being submitted to google from vbroot/ if they don't even exist there. I can't see them being submitted from "vbroot/vbseo_sitemap/data/" since the .htaccess in that directory says deny from all
UPDATE: NEVER MIND... I had to place the specific .htaccess code as the
ONLY code in my vbroot .htaccess file, thus removing most of my other .htaccess security rules
...now the stuff works at least
