I will give an example of why a person would want to do it...

I have a website that is mostly "mature" members (say 55+ demographic) and I have a few members that like to push the envelope and post things that offend the rest of my members...

I have consdered buying a second vBulletin license that wouls share the member database but when a few members push the issue I can simply tell them to take their talk to "the other site" and if people want to see the stuff they can but guests and those that do not want to see it will not...

Now, I have private forums and th elike but there is only so many ways I can do this on a single forum...

So, I have been considering doing just what is described here... The biggest hurdle with going this is addressing the passwords... I can see the users table being transfered from the vBulleting database over to a phpBB database via a couple CRON scripts but changing the password to a phpBB friendly form might be another matter!

I may need to look at this when I get time as for what I want to do, buying a second vB license is an expensive way for me to go to give a few trouble makers a place to throw mud...
