because it can be a server intensive process having someone upload large files constantly to a shared environment and it will cause alot of script time out errors and such after a certain size most the time anyway.

If they wont increase it, move to another host who will or already has a large upload, or upgrade to a VPS or dedicated to set your own limits as your please.
