It's a very good style, but you have too many forums. Emtpy forums are a big turnoff for new browsers so they are unlikely to stick around long enough to register.

I would consider hiding the French and Italian league forums, merging the Scotish forums, merge the FA and League Cups, and merge the German leagues and Spanish leagues respectively.

Your style is very good, but I do find your postbit to be a little busy and overwhelming.

I think with a bit of work regarding the forums, and getting discussions going with your existing members on different topics covering the full spectrum of your forums then it should start to pick up as more visitors will see activity rather than empty forums and so are more likely to stick around.
