Your links are like votes given to other sites. So, if you use them too much your pagerank may decline. I learned this info when i tried to learn about PR.

Yes, You're right: some sites with high page rank they have links every where. Yet, they are big sites, getting many links

Maybe, if they hadn't give links, their pagerank would be higher now.

For example, seochat.com & daniweb.com which are related to seo & pagerank don't use automaticly parse urls to [ url ] code. Thus they don't give external, clikable links
