Ok I figured it out - if the "Enable Hack?" is set to "No" then you can not use the link to "Manage rules" if you do, you get the smilie page.

I wanted the colour order different from the default so moved 3 lines of code further up on one of the plugins - took about 30 seconds and will tide me over until a later release.

I just edited the phrase to remove the version number from the footer and archive page, my mod/admincp have .htaccess files to lock them down anyway....
