It seems there is a problem with the news-feeds after the last facebook update. There is nothing I can do about it, but facebook IS aware of the issue and hopefully they'll fix it soon.

An actual account is created when someone logs in with facebook connect BUT it uses a proxy email address it's a @facebook.com email address and the user will not receive emails unless they allow it....

go to FB Connect Settings -> Settings -> and save your settings (even if you didn't change anything). And Make sure the news-feed template id's are filled in.
