I don't think this is possible because sub domain's ssl with goes with ssl of main domain thus you can use 2 ssl certs on a same site.

I am currently happy with vB4 hence I don't think I need vb5 now.

vB default never create tables like this unless you increase session timeout or something else too high.

You are right, my forum dropped a lot traffic recent months and I could not do more to improve it, seem Google and other search engines are changing and everyone likes building websites than forums.
