Also when a new member changes to another usergroup (promotion), this user doesn't show in the 'Just Joined' section anymore.

I did the same. I deleted the last (corrupt) picture everytime the process stopped and started the task again, untill the process was completed.

My experience is that most of the vbsocial mods have annoying bugs...
