Yes, I think that keeping registration turned off is a much better option than having spammers all over the site.

I just installed my Spam-o-Matic last night, and was absolutely thrilled with it until I noticed a few spammers getting on. Took me a while to realise that happened. Stop Forum Spam is down... Drat...
