filter bb codes

I am reading directly from the database to display the content of some CMS articles. Is there a function I can use that will either strip the BB Codes (i.e. [i] [url]) or replace them with the HTML?

That was the problem. I wrote a script to update the fields in the cache and it worked. You'd think there would be a magic button somewhere to refresh the cache?
