Installed again. I had php 5.4 - downgraded to 5.3 and added psyZa2's fix. This hack now works without issues on 4.2.0 PL2.

Figured it out. It does only work for 1 usergroup. I added other staff usergroup to same staff usergroup as a secondary usergroup and all is good now!
