I resolved my problem by deleting my entire site,...

I resolved my problem by deleting my entire site, replacing my database with a several week-old backup (our site isn't real busy so losing a few posts isn't really a big deal), and reinstalling 4.2.2...

No, I hadn't added any plugins prior to this issue arising. And yes, I did add that define line in my config.php file to disable all plugins, so hopefully all will go well (crosses fingers).
