Couldn't this be done with just changeing the forum permissions? Allow users to close own thread?

We do this for a market section on our boards so that people don't bid on allready sold...

hmm.. you could try setting up user groups, and setting
permissions for their group to allow them to move threads on that forum.
PK group 1, pk group 2, etc.

Arrange your forums into groups...
