Mac vs Windows tables problem

i am running 2.2.9

in windows my index pages shows the tables the way i want like this:

almost got it... any help?

i've been working my template to death in order to get it looking really nice. got the header done, but i'm having trouble with the Category header... somehow somewhere my table code is messed up.
