How can I limit actual posting in a forum to one usergroup, view by all though?

As above, I used to run a mod by cyb on v3.8 that was great and allowed to restrict posting in a forum by post count and much more.

I need some fine control over only a couple of usergroups...

But the forums have been installed in a subfolder for several years and it will be hard work to move it all to /root

and I will lose a lot of traffic/ inbound links...

and manually delete the thanks.
