also you need to move all images and attachments to the file system, they are defaulted to being stored in the database.

why not upload the sql file to phpmyadmin then...

why not upload the sql file to phpmyadmin then select the tables you want to keep and make sure "drop table" is checkmarked and download those? do a clean install and overwrite the new sql tables...
