Won't the count/update of my_threadviews cause...

Won't the count/update of my_threadviews cause almost as much locking problems as the current thread table?

I would say simply keep inserting a threadID into the table, then have the job update...

I think I suggested something like that on the vB...

I think I suggested something like that on the vB Dev forum. At least with Sybase it is significantly faster than the 3 queries and with less I/O.
