for some reason the (disable nominating posts older than X days?) is not working in our forum! We have entered 30 in the field, however, the nominate button is shown in topics older than 30 days....

installed on a fresh installation of vbulletin but the nomination images do not show up.
I double checked the configuration form but no success in showing the icons up.

You may want to check all those hardly-coded phrases in the style. There are alot of them that do not use vbulletin's phrases system.
