A couple of suggestions...the submit button should either be invisible or grey-ed out when a user doesn't have permission to chat...it prevents people from typing in a long sentence then realising...

But your problem might have something to do with SQL server spiking.

Modify swf's to work with php5 extension

I installed my forum as php5 files to force the server to use PHP 5. Unfortunately the SWF's that come with the ibProArcade are protected and designed for a site with index.php and not index.php5 ....
