How do I hide the number of times a thread has been viewed?

We've got members who get upset if they have 20 views and 1 response so we want to make that feature go away.

Is there a way to not show the thread views?

Is there anything I can do to speed up the load time? Since I installed it 5 days ago I now have over 100 entries, and it sometimes hangs for a minute while loading.
