Is there a way to sort the categories in descending order (from Z to A)? I could not find any setting for this in the admin panel or a hack in this thread.

Fixed it. It was a conditional in the Approx...

Fixed it. It was a conditional in the Approx template that would not allow lastpostinfo to appear if the category was a link. Took the conditional off and all is well.
