Keep admin logged in
 

I want to get rid of the need to enter my password as admin when I'm already logged in to my forum ...

Instead, I intend to use .htaccess as I tend to leave my browser open for a long time and it's annoying to have to keep entering my login details.

Is getting rid of this persistant request easy?

vB Options > Admin CP Options > Timeout Admin Login

Set this to no and it will stay logged in until you either log out yourself via the ACP or forums, close your browser, or shut down your PC, whichever comes first.

If I leave my browser open it auto logs me in when I refresh or return. It's the same if I restart my computer or close the browser ... the forum remembers my password unless I clear my cookies.

If I do that in the admincp it requests a password.

I want forum behaviour for the admincp (ie I want it to remember my password until I clear my cookies)

I wouldn't recommend that. I use the above setting and have not had any problems at all with having to log back in due to inactivity.

from my experience setting that option to no still logs you out after 1 hour of inactivity
