Remove Avatar when Subscription Ends
 

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask about this or not. But I've searched, and havne't found a hack for this.

We are currently running 3.03, but will be upgrading to 3.5 soon.

On our forum, we have a subscription that allows users who pay for this to get certain features the others don't (for example a custom avatar). Well I just learned today that the members who don't renew, get to keep thier avatars. VB doesn't automatically turn them off.

We really need it to turn them off, it's just too much work trying to go in and verfiy if a user really should still have the avatar or not. I'm actually really suprised that this isn't built into the software already.

So I'm hoping there is a hack for this (3.5), since we are planning on upgrading soon.

As per your post in this thread, I will be looking into this tomorrow for 3.5.x

If I get it working quicker than expected then I will also look into it for 3.0.x but that is all dependant on time as I have quite a lot to do tomorrow.

Up til yesterday, I always thought this was the default way of how a subscription worked. Not sure what made me look, but I was a little suprised when I saw a few users who subscriptions were expired, yet they still had the avatar.

I think this would be a very useful hack, and actually for us a needed one. I hope someone who knows how to do this, will create a hack of this kind. I'm really surprised that noone up til now has yet.

I see it as an oversight in the actual stock version of vB. If custom usertitles change if they are no longer allowed in someones "new" usergroup, why don't avatar settings change too?

The avatar should be removed if the new usergroup doesn't allow one, as should profile images, and if they new group DOES allow them, but with a different size, they should shrink or auto delete.

At least there are a lot of these threads lately. Maybe someone will take the opportunity to make the hack and get a lot of installs. :-)

Ya I really don't get why this hasn't been done. Out all the hacks on this site, I see this one as being one of the most useful, and needed for any forum with paying members.

I still think this should be part of VB to start with.

I hope someone is working on this.
