Block Duplicate IP Registration

Has anybody made a hack for 3.5 to stop people from registering if their IP matches one of a current member? I keep having members sign up and sign up again immediately after because they spelled their name wrong. I would rather they only get to sign up once and then email a mod to fix their account. It's annoying to have extra duplicate members.

Impossible, as there is no way fo you to detect if two registrations form the same IP are from the same user.

Is there a way to have it only allow one registration from an IP? That would solve your problem.

Not really.
What about Proxy Users?
They all have the same IP, eg. this would block them out.
