Knowledge base

i think i kind of knowledge base would be great.
Features:
  • The Artcels can be sorted in categories
  • comment feature
  • users can upload pictures and files to improve their articels

Obviously it should be a kind of wikipedia for vb. :nervous:

With wikipedia anybody can make alterations to your articles - Is this feature desired by you for this knowledge base?

Give me a couple of weeks and I can have a beta knowledge base somewhat operational: I'll call it vBPedia :D

I'm enthusiastic about the idea of seeing a vB KB, but I'm wondering if it might be worth considering bridging vB (userbase, some UI) with existing KB systems instead. Ostensibly less work on the vB side I would think, and would permit you to leverage all that KB development which has already taken place. It would also further extend vB's attractiveness to folks who are currently using some other KB and are interested in adding a forums platform, just as the CMS bridges and integration efforts are starting to do.

Actually i prefer real mods ,cause sometimes bridges are problematic.

soniceffect 10-19-2005 07:47 PM

Deffo putting a yes on this .... wanna learn to code and could be a good resource :)

akanevsky 10-19-2005 07:57 PM

If chris has already started on it, I could help :) Otherwise, I'd code it - no problem ;) Just need to straighten out whether he is going to do it or not.

It is currently about, ooh 5% done since I read this thread 2 days ago :)

I also have 2 other projects that are taking a forerunner so this will probably be another week before any major progess is made :)

If you want to help Dark, register on my forums and we can code the project together :)

So far there are 2 versions planned; vBPedia lite, and vBPedia :)

As "lite" suggests it is free for all and will be a lesser version of vBPedia - The full version will be slightly more advanced with more features, but for a minimal charge due to the amount of coding and functionality that will be in place - However vBPedia will not be constructed until the Lite version has been done, and there will be no obligation to upgrade :)
