Use Spamassassin To Check Post Contents?
 

I just had this crazy idea about the possibility of using something like Spamassassin or CRM114 to scan each new post and try to determine if it is spam or not (or at the very least assign a spam score).

Since they work just by piping data in & out, I don't think it would be that hard to implement. Training wouldn't take too long either.

I think this could be a viable way to help reduce those useless spamish posts that many members make. I thought the "minimum characters" limitation might help, but most still post like a 1 word response then garbage to get around the limitation, which is very irritating.

Good / bad / you're frickin crazy? Thoughts & opinions would be welcome.
