How to upgrade but keep the old vbulletin.

Hey,
I have a heavy hacked forum and also a lot of customized styles etc.
If I would upgrade I would lose a lot of functionality.
So, what I want to do is Importing all the data I can import from my 3.0.7 board to a 3.5.0 board (not public) where I build everyting back step by step like my current board and if i'm ready I'll replace the current with the 3.5.0.

But how can i do this. If i upgrade I lose my old forum...
Can i do this with impex??

Grz,
seba

I once had 50+ hacks installed, but I eventually decided to go ahead and upgrade to 3.5. Unless you like spending loads of time upgrading each time a new vB version is released, you should upgrade to 3.5 and enjoy the "magic" of what plugins can do! Sure, not every hack has been ported to 3.5, but you'll find several familiar (and new) hacks you can install without file edits ;)

As for customized styles, vB3.5 offers a template comparison tool. At worst, you could just revert templates like forumdisplay and threadbit and begin using features like inline moderation instantly ;)

Yeah, I know, But I will upgrade to 3.5.
But my board is to much customized (not only hacks from here but little things every where, a huge amount of own phrases, a own style, own pages,...)
So, I want to import all the settings, templates, phrases, but without upgrading. So I don't lose my current board.
Then I will build the 3.5 just like my current board and then replace my current board.

The question is how do I upgrade without losing my current board.

no , you will still keep all the folders ond files of the old foum
however , you can prepare a new data base and install a copy of your current board on it , and then upgrade to 3.5 , thus you have both the old and the new versions .

sorry for my not-so-fluent english
