Are there any good content managment systems?

I've spent the last few hours looking..

All of them either seem so overly complicated that its insane to think anyone is going to use this, or so bare bones basic I might as well get a blog of some sort.

I tried Joomla / Mambo and it feels very... complicated to seem the least, so many things must be chmod'ed to even start the installer process, huge lists of files and folders to upload, and finally after poking at it for awhile, the templates contain php (really annoying for me). I was going to try typo3 but again.. overly complicated, they even have like 6 differnt downloads that all require an original download...

Why can't everything be as good and simple as vBulletin ;_;

Anyway open for CMS suggestions..

Same thing in my experance, honestly it seems coding my own content manager is the better option no matter how many CMS scripts I try.

Have you ever looked at SubDreamer?

Revan 10-02-2005 12:01 AM

I remember your CMS, the one released on April 1.... :p

subDreamer is a plug-in manager with a news system built in. Its the best thing I could find.

www.subdreamer.com

The only proiblem is it doesn't run on tempaltes. PHP and html is integrated and a lot of stuff isn't CSS based. But otherwise it is excellent. They have an admin demo for you to try out. They have a free and paid version. It integrates with the vbulletin database or has its own independant database.You can only have one member selectable skin unless you purchase this skin selector mod (http://www.subdreamermods.com/forum/...read.php?t=355) only certain skins are compatible though.

Check it out for sure.

Remind me never to do that again, I had hate mail in my inbox for weeks due to that one :)

If I want php in my templates I'll go with Joomla :p

For as big as a market as it is, I'm very suprised theres nothing even close to the quaility that vBulletin offers via their forum scripts.
