Regarding Forum + Members + Guests

Hi there, ok i run a forum of my own, and have been keeping an eye on two other rival forums that i know. They were just like me with the odd 30+ members maybe 50 the most.

They dont know about my forum but i monitor them to keep up..., but they know about each other and they do all sorts of things to each other to gain members inc spam!

Ok now heres the thing...., i was very suprised as one of the rival forum has members active 100+ at anytime, ok thats that, but my concern is they have 700+ or sometimes 1000+ guests on at anytime! Daytime, night time, early in the morning! Now the other forum has done the same and they both are like with 100+ members, the most intruiging thing is they have 700+ guests at anytime everytime....! thats quite shocking to me, and im like gob smacked. The thing is..., this happened almost over night! to be precise i think they did it within a week or so....,

I dont know how to beleive them....., having over 700+ members anytime everytime! are they using some sort of cheat hack or what?? their both doing it!

Now i'm feeling left out, and i would desperately like to know how they are doing this. I know about this forum, all to do with the web and has much intelligent people here, I thought i'd ask if anyone could make me anywiser,

Sounds like spiders to me, that'd explain the guests. Look at their who's online page and see.

There can sometimes be fluctuations in the number of spiders on your site, I doubt this 700 guest thing would be a normal occurance.
