vb 3.0.9?

i got a problem.. i cant install it on vb 3.0.9 coz of the php4 files.. i think AWS only reads the php.. there for it gives an error " cannot find file etc.."

what can i do? or is there any warn hack for 3.0.9>?

I am at release 3.0.8, but from what I read about 3.0.9, there are no incompatibilities. I am not sure what this php4 thing is, but I believe it should work fine with 3.0.9. Maybe I'll upgrade my board tomorrow, to test it, but as I said, I see nothing in the release thread of 3.0.9, which indicates that AWS will not work with it.

vBulletin allow you to use the .php4 extension instead of .php. This has nothing to do with the release you are using, but is more to be able to use vB on different configured servers. 99% of the hacks don't take this possibility into account, since it is hardly used.

Thanks for clarifying this for us MarcoH64, I know AWS doesn't use any strange PHP things for sure.

Someone can install any hack, but manually replace all '.php' to '.php4' in all files and templates (and maybe some phrases).

highhai 09-25-2005 06:50 AM

yeah.. i know that but.. it needs the files like global.php.. but it will always give you an error saying global.php doesnt exist.. coz if your using 3.0.9 there is no global.php only a global.php4 and it doesnt detect it.. any ideas?

Marco van Herwaarden 09-25-2005 07:06 AM

Wrong. If you have downloaded with the default extension (.php) you will have no problem, this has nothing to do with your vB version!

If you have downloaded another extension (ie. .php4) then you will have to manually replace all references to .php (this would be the same for all hacks).

ohh ok.. so if i change all the file types from php4 to php there will be no diffrence in my forum? and no errorS?

Marco van Herwaarden 09-25-2005 07:42 AM

That will depend on your webserver/PHP configuration. But for a standard config you can just use .php.

PS You shouldn't go change filetypes, but download a fresh copy of vB with the default extension.

highhai 09-25-2005 08:08 AM

oh.. ok but i question then.. if i can just choose from php and php4 what is their diffrence? and which is better?
