Specific Forums Show On Specific Style Set

I am looking to display a Specific Forum Set based on Which template a person is viewing.

An example can be seen here: http://forums.e-mpire.com

Anyone have a suggestion? Use their drop down menu at the top to select a different site style and it changes based on template id but a different set of forums appear.

Anyone know this modification?

That's interesting.. Not sure if it's legal under the VB TOS though.. Could be argued that he is using one license to power more than one forum, even though it technically still one forum..

Would be a simple template edit to achieve that effect nonetheless. Could add a variable to make it an option in the admincp too.. but first I'd check the TOS. Seems fishy to me.

Plus what is the point of that. It's a mess. It's much easier to keep your forums on separate domains instead.

Well other than cheating, how can it be done so that I can show a different order of forums, or previous hidden forums depending on the style set?

I would reallly like to offer people CENTRALIZED style sets for different parts of my vb forum. For example, a specific game console style set would change the order of the forums so that those discussion forums appeared above all else using the forum home features. Its just another method of sorting, because I still want to use the forum home options and display, but not change the forum display templates for subforums.

Know what I mean? Is this a hack thats already available or someone is working on?

There is no hack available for this, I developed this for my forum to facilitate a "dynamic" forum index of sorts. And as far as the legality, 007, unless Jelsoft has recently updated their TOS this is completely within the rules as I've read over them thoroughly before I implemented this.

Well, I think its fantastic. Thats exactly what it is, a dynamic forum index... omega, is there any way we could get you to share how to do it? I think its a great mod and I would love to be able to offer it as well to my forum members. =)

*calls for an official release!!! 8) Its very cool regardless.

Actualy, i figured out how I think he did it, im going to put my own modification together and if it works how I plan, Ill let people know.

The Modification will be under a heading such as Filtered ForumHome Listing. Reason why I ask is that I have subforums that I would love to have take advantage of the same abilities and stats that are displayed on the forum home without the cumbersome navigation of numerous subforums.

Ill work at it, if anyone wants to assist or has there own input, please let me know through pm, for now Im going to work this with my vb 3.0.9 vb version.
