... change everyone's user profile to NOT show signatures.

My board is running slow because of everyone's elaborate signatures. I want to change the default to being able to view a persons signature to NO, including guests. Then once that is changed, those who do want to see them can go to their usercp and make the change back. I find I have a lot of members who are clueless in this respect and making this change, especially for guests could make a HUGE difference.

thanks for your input.

--------------------------
Ok, I have set the registration options to NOT show signatures for new users and I edited my postbit and put the if statement to only allow members to see signatures, in turn disabling guests from seeing signatures.
Code:

<if condition="$show['member']">
  <if condition="$post['signature']">
  <!-- sig -->
  <div>
    __________________<br />
    $post[signature]
  </div>
  <!-- / sig -->
  </if>
<else />
</if>

Now, I need to know what MYSQL command to change all pre-existing members profile options from show signatures to NOT show signatures. I have looked in the MYsql database, but cannot find it nor am I entirely sure as to what command to type in. Your help would be appreciated.

thanks

The attached script should do it all for you (it worked when i created it)

simply put the remove_sig.php file into the admincp folder and run

hope it helps

Thanks, however I don't want to remove their signatures, I want to change their option settings from "show signatures" to NOT to show signatures.

sorry for the bad choice of words it doesn't actually remove the sig it simply changes there options to turn it off.

I really like this thread. I have had some of the same problems. I was wondering if there was a way to change the script so it only removes siggies (changes view option) for users in a specific user group (in my case "members").

You can do this from your Admin Control Panel.
AdminCP -- Maintenance--> Execute SQL Query --> Automatic Query --> From the drop down menu, select: Off - Display Signatures.

Your config.php must be set to allow your user ID to run queries from the AdminCP.
