Revert database to default
IPB had a tool like this in development, so I was wondering if it could be done for vB too...
Say I have a heavily hacked board and want to revert back to a default board... Sure, just uploading a fresh download of the install files would sort out any file edits, but all the database alterations would still be present. Would it be possible to make a mod/hack/tool that would strip your database of any non-default vB tables and revert any altered default tables back to original?? |
You can use ImpEx (now only 3.0) for that.

yeah? After I made the post, I thought that I could, but without double checking I thought perhaps I'd have to go to one board and then back to vB...
Just for clarification, after coming from IPB to vB, I lost all sigs and passwords and permission masks, etc... If I re-do ImpEx, would that also mean I lose everything again? I'm having problems with my board already with random threads literally dissappearing and major issues with a few users and the java system (like with the WYSIWYG editor where it just won't allow them to type at all)... I know that the java thing could possibly be fixed with the users updating their java software as it isn't 'site-wide', but with the random threads dissappearing, I'm a bit worried that coming from an IPB database to a vB database, then adding a few hacks to the board has really FUBAR'd it and was thinking of starting from scratch. |
Doing a vB3.0->vB3.0 ImpEx will clean your database without loosing anything AFAIK.
