Thread Diggers...

I think it would be a nice addon if you stoped this somehow. I know *blah blah* "wait untill 3.5" But this is a request when you do upgrade the forums.

Paul also brought up a great idea for that hack:

I've been seeing alot of threads bump from months, to even years old. What does everyone else think?

i think vborg would wholly benefit from using my hacks too :-p

whats wrong with threads being reposted in as long as the new comment still is on topic? :-p

Logikos 08-31-2005 11:09 PM

When a thread hasn't had a reply for over 2 years, it gets anoyying..

nexialys 08-31-2005 11:17 PM

when a thread is related on "vB support", it's always best to have a thread closed when the answer is given... so when another user wants to ask again, he can be redirected to an existing thread that is not flooded with comments...

this is internal policies anyway... we often see "if you have a question of your own, please start a new thread" alert...

sometimes i dont look at the date when i search i just look for the topic. same thing happens to others

Just because a thread is old doesn't make it any less useful, imho if a reply is needed I don't see a problem with bumping the thread.

Of course the 'was this ever done?' or 'I need this' bumps should be delt with, and we do close them when we see the need. But the few shouldn't spoil it for the rest of us.

Brad is right. :) There are some good time oldies around. And I'm not just referring to Steve Machol or Boofo. ;)

Boofo 09-01-2005 03:02 AM

Ouch! And I'm telling Steve. ;)
