Top installed hacks board
 

First off, thanks for the great site. I find it very useful.

To make it easier for new users, I would suggest a few things.

1. Make a board that places the top hacks for each VB version. This way new guys can see the most installed hacks from top to bottom.

2. Top Coder board. Basically, same as number 1, but make it list the coders that have had the most installs. I find some coders have more stable hacks than others. I also notice some coders contribute much more than other. They should get the recognition on a top coder board.

3. Hacks installed in profile. When a user clicks "install" it is identifed throughout this site. Can you make is so the hacks show up in the users profile? For instance, when a user gets a trophy in the arade, they show up in the users profile on my site.

This already exists for vb2 & vb3.0 - but is only the top five. I would like to see a top 20 list for vb2, vb3.0 and vb3.5 (on a seperate "top hacks" page)

Interesting idea, this could also be a top 20 list on it's own page.

The hack author can see who has installed his hacks in the postbit, vb.org refuses to show any more than this due to extreme paranoia ......

Nice ideas, but don't expect to see them anytime soon, if at all. ;)

I hope to see the seperate top 20 list, but I understand they are working on more important things :)

Maybe so. It's not a bad idea, although I think the top 5 hacks is long enough. Maybe a top 10? Don't think we need a top 20 though..

from a non-hacker point of view, i can see how this would be useful..

but as a hacker, i think it would just make the big guys bigger and the small guys smaller. people will just see more-installed hacks, and install them even more :-p likewise, theyll only check out the top coders, and ignore ones like me, who believe theyve written some excellent albeit not as well-known hacks.

the individually installed hack idea per person is nice, but vborg has been through this song and dance before, and would rather preserve privacy :) (and the only-to-the-author-on-showthread is only half as useful as youd think :-/)
