Moving MySQL database from local hosting to unix host

I'm in the process of moving my board from my own computer to an ISP which uses cpanel and phpmyadmin.

Several times, I have tried to export and import my database, all to no avail.

I've exported it properly and then, upon trying to import it, the phpmyadmin times out saying that it's gone over a certain time limit.

I have exported individual tables and imported them, but that too times out.

How does one move a SMALL, already functioning vBulletin board?

I only have about 400 members and not as many posts as some of your larger boards.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried contacting the host and see if they can import the file for you if you upload it to a directory on your site? Most ISPs should be willing to do that.

You could also try getting your host to enable SSH, then import it from the command line as per the vB3 manual.

I think this is what I'm going to have to do on Monday. I assumed this would be the path of least resistance. I guess that's what you guys do when you're moving a board.

Thanks.

That's what I had to do when I moved mine. But I know the guy who's server I am on so it wasn't that big of problem. Your ISP should be able to handle it easily. ;)

I can try this, but I think I'll have to wait until Monday for them to allow it anyway. So I may as well just let them run the gigantic query locally...
