Remembering collapse state

I have the below code collapsed by default for many categories. How can I maintain the expanded state for one category when the page refreshes instead of all of them collapsing again?

umm it would require reading and setting a cookie, and some people dont even have cookies enbabled... it would also require some work editing... and it would require the page to reload every time you expanded/collapsed, really I think its a bit to much work to do for such a tiny change...
