Questions duing registration?

Hey all,

Apologies is this has already been done/answered somewhere else before. I've been searching the forums for about 15 minutes, but knowing me I've probably looked straight past it.

Anyway, for several months our forums have been getting a lot of "odd" users, and myself and the other admins/mods agreed that we should start validating all the new members manually before they're allowed to post. I was interested to know if during the registration process, there could be a couple of general questions on board usage with radio buttons (just something general to check they've actually read the rules), and perhaps somewhere where they are able to say a little something about themselves (I realise I'm not the nicest of webmasters around, but I honestly hate people who register and only ever post something along the lines of "OMG LOL HI IM RALPH I LOVE GODZILLA AND GAMERA AND MOTHRA AND THE BATTY ONE TOO HES THE COOLEST LOL I REALLY LOVE THIS WEBSITE THANK YOU LOL"). It'd make the validating process a lot easier.

Is something like this possible? Already been done? A deafult option of vBulletin I've once again missed? Any help appreciated :)

You could set the "Registered Users" Usergroup to only have permissions to post in a welcome forum.

Then create a new group called "Validated Members" or somehting like that, with the permissions you registered group has now.

Then move all your current members to the new group.

When a new member signsup, he will only be able to make posts in teh welcome forum, until you manually move them to the Validated group.

is it possible to make it a cron job?

I thought you wanted to validate them manually?

Well anyway, you could use a User Promotion, to promote them after 1 post to the validated group.
