Tie the birthdate into forum view permissions.
 
I have a forum where the language would be a bit more loose than on the other forums, however I want it so that only users 17-18 or older would be able to post in the forum. Is this possible?

Yes, however, do you think all your users are going to be honest when they input the birthdate? Especially if they know that to gain access they only have to change their profile?

Good point, I guess it would just be a bit more of a precaution for me to be able to do this.
