Looking To Buy vB, But NOT If It Doesn't Have A Good Gallery...

I really want to start a deviantART type site.

I know there's nothing that can touch it, but is there a good Gallery for vB?

Demo?
Price?

Thank you for your interest in vBulletin Brinnie.

There are various Gallery modifications for vBulletin available. You can find a few free ones on our forums, feel free to have a look if any of those suit your needs.

Looking forward into welcoming you into our community soon.

thank you, MarcoH64.
I am looking, but so far I'm not seing what I am looking for!

If you look at someone's personal deviantART page, their Gallery is lacated at membername.deviantart.com... So. I am looking for a Gallery that lists usernames like that, if there is one.

Also, I really want it to look like a gallery and not a forum. The category listing in the vbadvanced Gallery looks closer to what I want than say this one did.

Okay, let me rephrase...

I want my site to be 90% Gallery and 10% Forum... So in this case, vBulletin would be the hack.

Sorry if I'm sounding like I'm picky, but I really want a peticular kind of gallery.

That can be achieved with (almost) every Gallery Software.
However, you need control over your Web and Nameserver, als you must setup Wildcard DNS and a default Server to catch unknown Hostnames, then use a mod_rewrite Rule to rewrite the Request to the real script location.

It can also be done in PHP, there's a modification for that here somewhere.

Brinnie,
if you're looking for 90% Gallery, wouldn't it make more sense to look for that first and then look for a way to integrate vBulletin?

Never had much luck with mod_rewrite... Even with simple things.

Question 1:
Would you do it?

Question 2:
How much?

Probably. :nervous:

But you say this can be done in PHP? Very interested in that. I allready have extended experience in modding phpbb and invision boards.

@ColinF
Sure, instead of mod_rewrite you can also use PHP (or Perl or Python or ASP or whatever), but Wildcard DNS is a must :)

@Brinnie
I posted Rewrilte-Ruels to have http://membername.yoursite.com for Member Profiles some time ago, could be easily adpoted.

Otay. So could you do it to my gallery for a small fee?

Also, what if the forum url was forum.site.com and someone signed up under the username "forum", what would happen?

Would we just block those names from being registered, or do we set the forum to sitename.com/forum ?
