So with uni it's just a simple you pass or fail, no grades anymore?

On my course you merely have to pass the first year - I got grades, yes:p

A B+, a B, 2 C+s, a C and a D+ (D+ for the module I hated, B+ for the one I am continuing next year)

Only the second and third years count towards my degree;)
