How do I? Total Newbie here

I'm a newbie. Starting from the ground up. I've got a vbulletin board and that's about it. Along with 20 members and a bunch of posts on an unpersonalized board.

What I'm looking to do:

Create a Banner
Get rid of the VBulletin banner but keep the board clean and as it is.

How do I do that?
