Forum as news feed

First, appologies if this isnt the correct forum.

Ive been trying to research how I can use a forum as a news feed for my site. I notice you have it working here. Could you possible share how you have managed this? Ive tried all sorts without any real sucess.

Thanks

You mean what's on the portal?

artonex 04-30-2005 07:13 PM

do you mean rrs news bot? if so check out the Article Bot it can take rrs feeds and post them into a forum :)

Yeah portal like. You have an announcements forum here which threads are out putted on the front page of this site as news articles.

Not a bot that posts RSS feeds.

That'd be a hack, so you'd have to ask over at vBulletin.org.

I have with no reply. Since I see you have it working here I thought you might be able to help me.

Yeah, but we're a template community, not a hack community.

God you guys could quit being so freaking techincal and just help. -_-. Seems to be getting a problem at bv.org too though.

Anyways:

There are quite a few hacks that do this out there but the one I prefer and sue is vB Advance.

http://www.vbadvanced.com/products.php? - place to download

You have to go through a long process to show up as licensed ot get it. If you need help with installation or anything IM me on yahoo, msn, or aim

vBAdvance is a bit too OTT for what I need. Ive managed to parse the RSS feed ok. Only problem I have is its not formatting the content of the thread properly. IE missing line breaks, just one continuous line of text.

You can see this here.

Im also trying to not to hack any files, makes upgrading vB a nightmare imo.
